Amit Jain, an accomplished advocate specializing in indirect taxes, has built a distinguished career over four decades, marked by his extensive expertise in tribunal work. He began his journey with the Ministry of Finance, Government of India, dedicating more than 25 years to the Department of Revenue within the Central Board of Excise & Customs (now the Central Board of Indirect Taxes & Customs). As a Senior Departmental Representative at the Customs, Excise & Service Tax Appellate Tribunal (CESTAT) in New Delhi, Amit represented the government in numerous high-stakes cases involving Customs, Excise, and Service Tax. His tribunal work at CESTAT sharpened his litigation skills and established him as a formidable advocate in indirect tax matters.
Following his distinguished government service, Amit advanced his practice by joining Lakshmikumaran & Sridharan, Attorneys, one of India’s leading law firms, where he spent a decade as a trusted advisor in indirect tax disputes. Rising to the position of Executive Partner, he adeptly represented clients in complex cases before various bodies such as the CESTAT, Settlement Commission, Advance Ruling Authority, and various Departmental Authorities. Now, Amit has joined AMRG as the Head of the Tax Litigation Practice, where he continues to lead and shape high-stakes tax litigation for clients across diverse industries.
